If you are wanting a fresh start for 2013, look for a fresh new haircut! One of the best ways to put yourself in a great mood is the feeling of soft, clean hair after a haircut! You don't necessarily have to change your haircut, just free yourself of those nasty dead ends. Dead ends just prevent you from the ability of styling your hair to its best potential. A haircut will add life back into your hair, and in turn, making it easier for you to achieve the desired style you are looking for! While you are in the chair, talk to your stylist about different ways that you can style your cut. Humans are creatures of habit! Sometimes just switching your part or adding bangs can add just the change you are looking for!
Still need a little inspiration??? You need to determine your face shape! This is the most effective way that will help you find the best hairstyle for you! Then break out those magazines, search Pinterest and google and start hunting for a new hairstyle!

The first step in finding the perfect haircut for you is to determine your face shape. Knowing your face shape is critical in discovering what haircut is going to look best on you. Don't know your face shape? The easiest way to find out is to pull your hair back into a ponytail and draw and imaginary line from each point on your face. I am going to highlight some of the most common face shapes and give my suggestions on the best styles below.
Oval Face Shape
This face shape is viewed by many as the "Ideal" face shape. Lucky you, it is one of the most versatile of the face shapes. Think of Jennifer Aniston or Kristin Cavallari. Consider your facial features when looking at hairstyles. If you have a high forehead, adding bangs will help soften this feature. Have a strong jaw line? You can soften the jaw line by creating a face frame. Shorter haircuts are also very flattering on oval face shapes.
Square Face Shape
This is a strong face shape. You really want to consider with any face shape what your best features are, and what you want to draw attention away from. Whether you wear your hair short or long, layers is always the best way to shape your hair. If you are looking to soften this shape, parting your hair in the middle will play down your forehead. Prefer a side part? Add a soft side swept bang! Adding this angle will draw the attention to your eyes and soften your jaw line like in this picture of Olivia Wilde. If you like a shorter hairstyle. Than a longer bob that is shorter in the back and angled forward in the front will be super flattering!
Heart Face Shape
Like Reese Witherspoon, if you are blessed with high cheekbones and a more pointed jaw line, you are considered to have a heart shaped face. Styles that are best for this face shape are longer layers to help fill in the jaw area. If you have a larger forehead, having soft swept bangs can really help downplay that area. Stay away from straight across bangs-this will only make your face seem smaller. Bobs that are layered around the chin can also be super flattering. For this face shape, adding height and volume can really help balance you out!
Round Face Shape
Look for hair styles that offer less volume at the sides as to minimize full cheeks. If you have long hair, it is best to have your layers starting at your ear or lower. Shorter bobs look will look their best if the length is a few inches below your chin like in this picture of Jennifer Goodwin. Having a side part can give your face shape. If you have or want bangs with this shape, it is best to have side swept bangs to create a more angled look.
